Mental Health Resources
Each of these sites lets you search for providers on a number of criteria, and you may also want to find a provider who is carried by your insurance. There are excellent providers at every level of training. Your connection with your therapist is the most important part, so it is worth having an open conversation with your provider about likes and dislikes, goals for therapy, and what you’d prefer in a therapist. Sometimes people prefer a male or female, a clinician with a certain personal background or ethnicity, or understanding of specific conditions. However, do keep in mind that psychologists are trained to work with a wide range of individuals very different from ourselves. A good clinician will work hard to understand your individual personal history and current experience.
